Tips to become a decision making pro...

For some people, decision making is something that comes quickly and easily, a lot like turning on alight switch. It's all about difference personalities, if you are an impulsive decision maker or a ponderer and worrier. For the impulsive among you, your decision is final. That tends to be end of. But for the worriers out there, your decision making is a back and forth, pro and against list agonising over what could be best. Decisions that are important to you, you may wish to take time over and consider, don't forget to listen to your gut and let your instincts guide you too. But once you have come to a conclusion, rethinking or regretting won't be positive for you.
Before making a decision, if you want to ponder it and aren't an impulsive decision maker, weight up your options, think carefully and honestly about your goals, motivations and aspirations. Make lists for and against if this helps you too to clearly contract the different points. Come to a rounded conclusion, ask for advice if you would like, but be sure to make your own decisions. It's your life and you can't hold anyone else accountable if things don't work out how you wanted.
Most importantly, when you have made your choice, put it to bed. Thinking more about the right or wrong option will only make you more uncertain and doubt your choice further.
If you have chosen the wrong path and can amend it, great, but if you can't, don't blame hindsight (it's never going to help) but learn and use the experience to further information your decision making in the future. Think of this occasion as another step to help you get back onto your path in the future and make you a stronger person.

What is The Pink Tank actually all about....?

Okay so if you've been following us since our launch late last year, you'll know that we cover a variety of topics including careers, advice, work, style and beauty, and you might be thinking, what are we actually about. Inspire and all that jazz....but what?!

So we've taken a little time to pen down why The Pink Tank started, what we wanted to achieve and what (we hope) we evoke from you.

We focus a lot on careers and advice, not because we're about every young woman being the next Karen Brady or Michelle Mone with blow-dry's a plenty, but we are about you being whatever you dream and having the confidence to do whatever you want to. If it's a FTSE 100 CEO post that drives you or most importantly for some, the best mum you can possibly be - that's what we want to inspire in you and help you become.

For some people it's about having it all, work, life, relationships, posessions, for others, it's enjoying life's little pleasures with a swipe of lippy for good measure but following that one dream and if that's what get's you up in the morning, whatever it may be, that's what we want to inspire in you.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

Rimmel's Apocalips Lip Lacquer is a highly pigmented lip colour and I went for the Luna shade is a coral/peach colour, it's quite a summer colour, but can be a winter statement with strong liner and lashings of mascara too. It's ultra moisturising and gives a really strong colour that doesn't feel sticky on the lips or overly glossy either. Only downside, when compared to the Rimmel Lipsticks, particularly the Kate lipstick in shade 016, it doesn't last half as long and you'll need to regularly apply for all day long wear, but the applicator is handy and it's convenient to keep in your bag to reapply. Oh wait, even better news...it's still on sale here!

Illamasqua Tremble Blush

Browsing the Asos beauty after the new year, there were a selection of Illamasqua blushers on sale and I've heard good things about the Illamasqua blushers, that they are highly pigmented and long wearing, so I thought I'd give them a go. The tremble colour is a raspberry/coral blush and is very highly pigmented when used, so I only use a little for a natural flushed look on top of my Bobbi Brown bronzer. The powder blushers has a really subtle sweet scent to it too that I didn't expect -a lot like the Benefit powder blushers that have subtle smells. I feel quite smug that I bagsied this for a mere £14.00! It's out of stock on Asos now but is available at the Illamasqua online store here along with an array of other shades, I think I might be investing in more, the Naked Rose and S.O.P.H.I.E shades are on my shopping list!

Have you invested in the Illamasqua blushers, what's your favourite shade?

Rimmel London, Kate.

Kate Moss' collection for Rimmel is quickly expanding and a selection of the range is on sale at ASOS now! Who are we to deny ourselves a little splurge on some new Kate lippy?

Going for the classic, vampy red shade of number 01 that is still available here (it's not on sale anymore - sorry!) and the peach shade of number 16, that's still available here too but it's not on sale either!

We are trying the New Year; new you mantra and going for a lippy each day.

If you're considering it too, what are you favourite lip sticks for 2015, and what have you treated yourself too lately?!

As an illustrator you need to have an aptitude for design, a degree or qualifications in art or graphic design would also stand you in good stead when you start. H is for... (A to Z of Fashion, Beauty & Entertainment careers)

Continuing the new weekly blog feature, an A to Z of careers in the Fashion, Beauty and Entertainment industries.

H IS FOR... Hair Stylist
As a career as a hair stylist, you can work in a salon, but you can also be a session stylist if you are looking to work with celebrities, models and for magazines. Session stylists are usually qualified hairdressers and must have a strong sound knowledge of cut, colour and styling and usually self-employed or work through an agency like Frank who would look after your bookings and payment too! To become a session stylist working in Fashion Weeks, editorial shoots and celebrity red carpet events, you'll need to have a strong portfolio showing your previous work and what you can do, if you are looking to get this together sites such as Shooting Beauty & The Freelancer Club are great for organising test shoots to get your portfolio together. Once you have this you can pro-actively introduce yourself to agencies, celebrity management and PR's for anything they have in the pipeline. The key to making it as a session hair stylist, is to keep networking and pro-actively searching for opportunities as it's a competitive industry and you have to stand out!

Human Resources
Any company with employees, must deal with an element of human resources. In smaller companies, the Director would generally look after this as a part of their role, however, in large organisations, a whole dedicated team would be in place to look after employees. This would include everything from hiring new staff, enrolling for pensions, running staff benefit schemes and ensuring the organisation is inline with employment regulation and compliance issues. If you are a people person and very interested in employment law and careers then this might be the avenue for you. There is not set route into HR, although you can undertake a Masters degree in the field, a broad degree in English, History or something that show strong verbal reasoning and written ability would be useful for an entry or graduate HR position.

All A to Z entries will be compiled in a little ibooks download in a little while, including further career suggestions, tips & insider information & a contacts list. Watch this space for the download link...

G is for... (A to Z of Fashion, Beauty & Entertainment Careers)

Continuing the new weekly blog feature, an A to Z of careers in the Fashion, Beauty and Entertainment industries.

G IS FOR...
Graphic Designer
As digital resources are so heavily used in areas of sales, marketing and customer interaction, graphic designers are essential to This is a general term of career path for those who want to work in fashion, however this title encompasses many roles. Do you want to specialise in initial design or embellishment design or fabric design? Or do you want to work as an overall designer working up from a studio assistant? Head designers tend to start as design or studio assistants and can work up to become creative directors of the top fashion houses such as Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.

Garment technician
This might sound like it is completely un-fashion related, but product samples cannot be made and styles cannot go into production without a garment technician! An in house garment technician will construct and make first samples for each collection, ensuring they fit together properly and work with the pattern cutters to ensure the perfect fit and make any alterations accordingly. They will then ensure that there is a logical and methodical way of a factory making the garments. A garment technician at a factory will make and manufacture clothing, if you excel at textiles, this might just be the career for you.

All A to Z entries will be compiled in a little ibooks download in a little while, including further career suggestions, tips & insider information & a contacts list. Watch this space for the download link...
