Sleep tight - L'Occitane Aromachologie

Sleep, albeit an essential for everyone, it's very much an 'each to their own' kind of thing. Margaret Thatcher could, supposedly, function on four hours a night, others need the 'optimum' of eight and others a little more. If you're someone who has trouble sleeping, whether it be trouble getting to sleep or waking in the small hours, lavender is known to help relaxation and a natural way to aid sleep. I'm giving these L'Occitane products a try, a shower gel, body lotion and pillow mist to see if it helps at all.

According to the website, 'obtained test results confirm the beneficial effect of the Relaxing Ritual in creating a soothing sensation, conducive to a peaceful and relaxing night’s sleep', so here's hoping I'll be sleeping like a baby.

If you are having trouble sleeping this could be due to work stress, have a read of my tips to stop you burning out from work, some of these will come in handy for a peaceful nights sleep too!

New Year; New Job?

Okay so it's that time of year when we are all considering a new start, possibly a change to accomplish goals of 2015? If you are considering a career change or looking for a new job in 2015, remember these things:
1. Think twice. Are you really that unhappy or looking for a change? Not looking to put you off of the dream move, but think carefully. If you are in stable job with prospects and a good salary, is it worth looking internally for a move to a new role or looking externally to start a new hobby that might fulfil what you are looking for in the New Year?
2. Negotiate. Whether it's salary or benefits, if you are looking for a new job and don't quite get the offer you are looking for, negotiate. If they want you they will be flexible. If you need a little hand in negotiating tips, check out our top tips for negotiating.
3. Listen with your heart. If you are making a change, be fueled by your heart. If you don't follow your path in something that you love, you will be looking for something new in 2016. Make this year the year to get where you want to be.
4. Make it count. If you are starting a new job in the New Year, make it count. Try to be the best at whatever you can be and always aim for the top, whether you finally make it there or not. As the saying goes, 'if you reach for the stars, you might just make the moon', make this your career motto for 2015.
Good luck if you are job searching!

Christmas party eyebrights

So the Christmas shopping is done.....nearly?

Next is looking to the party season and what better excuse to vamp up your makeup with a little sparkle shadows.

Here (above) are two perfect eye palettes suiting a number of skin types.

The first, a Clinique, All About Shadow Quads, palette in Going Steady, featuring violets and blues. This palette will suit a fair skin for a smokey eye and an olive or darker skin types using the deep violet and midnight blue colours in the eye socket and the mushroom/taupe colour as a highlighter. Keep make up minimal and the lip neutral if you are going for this smokey eye look.

The second, a Paul & Joe, trio palette in 01, featuring a trio of toasted colours. Using the yellow, gold colour in this palette all over the lid will give a beautiful golden, Christmas look perfect for New Year too, or blend the deep chocolate colour along the socket line for more definition and contour too. The packaging of the Paul & Joe beaute collection is always so cutsie too! Add a red lip to this look and you are Christmas or New Year party ready!

All prepped for Christmas?!

Remeber this! Benefit, Coralista

Lately, the go-to blushers of choice have been the Bobbi Brown bronze shimmer brick and the nectar blush. However, today being Friday and all that jazz, I decided to talk a walk on the wild side and delve a little further into my draw of blushers. I found none other than the Benefit coralista blush that took my fancy, and by-golly, I forgot how wonderful it is! Even down to the subtle scents of the Benefit blushers - its divine! Although after looking online today, I'm pretty sure my blush was a lot less of a bank-breaker than the £23.50 it now costs, better be pretty sparing with this little wonder in that case!

Oh and if you've already seen this snap I posted it on my personal instagram this morning - check out what else happens over there.

5 tips to be more productive and get stuff done.

Whether it's at work, school or we can all start to procrastinate and get a little less productive. It's easy to loose focus and get distracted, especially when social media is thrown into the equation.

So how to be more productive?

1. Turn your phone off
Phone calls, texts and social media updates are the first thing that can take your mind away from your focus. Turn your phone off while you are working to stop the distractions.

2. Turn your emails off
Ever started to work and been drawn into long email chains? Close your emails and turn them off, or get into a routine of checking your mail in the morning, at lunch and in the evening so you can have undisturbed time to work on your projects and plans.

3. De-clutter your work space
If you have heard the phrase, 'cluttered desk, cluttered mind' this is why. All of the things on your desk or around your workplace can spur distractions. Having a clean, clear space can enhance your productivity.

4. Make a to do list and prioritise
Feeling swamped by too many tasks can all get a bit much. So making a to do list and prioritising is the way forwards. Prioritise by time and importance, then plan your working schedule around that.

5. Schedule time to work and play into your day
Making a plan to schedule time for the tasks on your to do list, if you add in checking emails or social media you won't feel too 'out of touch' and you'll get stuff done too, with plenty of time to spare too!

Kudos to Kris Jenner

The person we all know as the 'Momager'. Kris Jenner has used herself and family to create a worldwide brand, based on, well, not much.
According to the credible, Mail Online, Kris Jenner's net worth combined with husband Bruce is now $125 million. The Kardashian's have managed to ride the wave of reality TV, starting their Keeping Up With The Kardashian's show on E! just at the time that the fly-on-the-wall scripted reality shows were emerging. Surely, we have Jenner to thank for The Real Housewives, TOWIE and all of the Andre/Price/Katona 'shows'?
Jenner is a master sales woman. She can up-sell anything it seems. Following the success of KUWTK and her lucrative TV deal, individual members of the family have launched calendars, perfumes, clothing lines, cosmetic lines, endorsed spirits, nightclubs, diet pills, hair extensions...the list is endless - all under Kris' watchful eye and earning her a tidy little 10% commission on EVERYTHING in the process. Surely, Jenner also has carved the business model for all 'reality celebrities' that are now popping up for calendar and perfume signings all over the UK?
I am fascinated with how Kris Jenner has shaped pop culture and whether we all like it or not, the lady knows how to sell to consumers and keep the cash coming in, which is a fundamental basic of business success - what would celebrity be like without the Jenner/Kardashian influence?

The Girl Online phenomenon

Okay, so, today the news broke that Zoella's debut novel, Girl Online, has become the best selling novel since records began. That being said, I was always inquisitive as to what the debut novel of a YouTuber could entail, and well if 78,000 people have purchased it in its first week of sale, it must be something to shout about right?

I can imagine that most of these purchases have been from the loyal Zoella fan-base, but I'm sure some purchasers, much like myself are just so intrigued as to what someone the same age as us, that decided to document their life online has got to say whether it's in fiction or not?

Well, I've caved and have ordered the book, adding to the rising bank balance of Zoella nonetheless, and want to see what all of the fuss is about!

I'll let you know what the 'Girl Online' phenomenon is all about in due course.

If you are one of the 78,000 or have already had a read, let me know your thoughts below.

Why we love Lauren Conrad...

Let's face it, since being known as the girl who 'didn't go to Paris', she's kind of taken over our hearts as a lifestyle guru. Here are the reasons that we love LC, or now LT.

1. She gives us this kind of pin-spiration.

2. She makes our Friday's a little better.

3. She always loves a good mani.

4. The hair (even with the chop).
Surely LC was single-handedly responsible for the ombre craze?
