Liberty of London

Channel 4 are fast becoming known for their fly-on-the-wall documentaries. Their accounts of A&E, Police Custody and now, Liberty are always compelling to watch - you can imagine my excitement at the launch of the new Liberty series!

Managing Director Ed Burstell (below), formerly of Bergdorf Goodman, is tasked with ensuring the Liberty brand continues to exist in the at the famous Carnaby Street address and keeps up-to-date with the ever changing retail environment.
The first episode gave an overview of the changes and new appointments Ed has made to revitalise the Liberty brand, including the visual director, who transforms the summer windows into a 'Summer of Sport' theme, that falls short of the desired impact. The first episode also shows the annual initiative Ed has implemented to find new designers and products for the store, the 'Best of British open call' - Nancy's Nails got some serious airtime in the show.

The second episode shows preparations of the events and marketing team as they prepare for Vogue's, 'Fashion Night Out' with appearances from Henry Holland.
The documentary look behind the workings of an international brand and although the focus of the documentary is starting to shift towards profiling the eclectic staff, I can't wait for the next episode.
Will you be watching along too?
Liberty of London is on Channel 4 on Wednesdays at 9pm and you can catch the previous episodes on 4OD here
